Netflix's endearing documentary , is accompanied by the kind of solid music soundtrack to be expected from a buddy road-trip movie. Will & Harper features the mercurial Will Ferrell and his comedy writing partner Harper Steele, as they travel 3000 miles across the US to mark Steele's gender transition and test America's heartland's response to it.
In 2020, Andrew Steele, former Saturday Night Live head writer, challenged long-term friend and collaborator Will Ferrell when he revealed that he was officially re-gendering as Harper. That revelation prompted Ferrell to propose a road trip during which he could examine his own response to his friend's transition, and learn about Harper's lived experience out in the real world. The soundtrack to Harper & Will is suitably eclectic, mirroring the range of emotions the pair go through on their journey.
